IND vs PAK, T20 World Cup 2022: India defeated Pakistan by four wickets in the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 on Sunday, thanks to their century partnership with chase master Virat Kohli (82 not out) and Hardik Pandya (40). Batting first, Pakistan had given a target of 160 runs to India, which India achieved on the last ball of the match. In this thrilling match, India had lost four wickets for 31 runs while chasing the target, but the Kohli-Pandya pair weaved a 113-run partnership to put the team in a strong position.

India needed 16 runs in the last over.

Pandya and Dinesh Karthik were also dismissed in this over, but due to Kohli’s six in the fourth ball of the over, India achieved the target of 160 runs for the loss of six wickets.

Kohli scored an unbeaten 82 in 53 balls with six fours and four sixes, while Pandya supported him and scored 40 runs in 37 balls with the help of one four and two sixes.

Arshdeep Singh and Hardik Pandya’s excellent bowling helped India restrict Pakistan to 159 for eight in their first match of the T20 World Cup on Sunday. Arshdeep took three wickets for 32 runs in four overs.

He got India off to a great start by dismissing Pakistan captain Babar Azam (0) and Mohammad Rizwan (4) in the first two overs itself. After this, Pandya, who performed well in the Asia Cup, took three wickets for 30 runs.

Iftikhar Ahmed scored 51 runs for Pakistan and looked absolutely comfortable in front of the Indian bowlers. Spinners R Ashwin and Axar Patel were seen struggling, so sixth bowler Pandya bowled four overs.

Shan Masood made 52 off 42 balls but he did not look comfortable.364 days before this, Babar and Rizwan had given Pakistan the biggest win against India in a T20 match, defying the Indian bowling.

The MCG pitch was undercover due to rain for the past few days and it is still damp the pace bowlers are getting a lot of help from the pitch. Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Arshdeep took full advantage of this. Both bowled at a speed of 130 kmph.

In the first over, Bhuvneshwar did not allow the Pakistani batsmen to open their hands. On the other hand, Arshdeep got Babar out leg before on the very first ball of the second over. Rizwan was also the victim of Arshdeep’s short ball scoring four runs, whose catch was caught by Bhuvneshwar near the fine leg boundary.

As Fakhar Zaman was not in the playing XI, Masood’s job was to play the role of the initiator of the innings. He allowed Iftikhar to show an aggressive game. Indian captain Rohit Sharma handed the ball to Mohammed Shami in the last over of the powerplay while spinner Ashwin came to bowl in the ninth over.
Iftikhar hit four sixes in five balls but Shami broke the 76-run partnership for the third wicket by getting him leg-before in the second spell. Pandya sent Shadab Khan, Haider Ali and Mohammad Nawaz to the pavilion. Shaheen Shah Afridi played some fine shots to take Pakistan past 150.

Final scores IND 160/6 (20), PAK 160/8 (20)
